Dr. Jihad Al Wazir, Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority and the accompanying delegation have concluded their visit to Algeria, where they met Dr. Mohamed Laksaci, Governor of the Central Bank of Algeria, and Mr. Karim Joudi, the Minister of Finance, and other Algerian senior representatives. The delegation briefed the Algerian side on the PMA's technical experience in the fields of banking supervision, credit registry, consumer awareness, and anti-money laundering.
Dr. Al Wazir gave a lecture at the Central Bank of Algeria about the vital role of the PMA and its successful achievements despite the occupation.
On the other hand, Mr. Kareem Joudi received Dr. Al Wazir and the accompanying delegation and discussed the cooperative relationship between the two countries. Dr. Al Wazir conveyed greetings from Mr. President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Government to the Algerian leadership. The two sides discussed modes of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two parties, with the aim of developing monetary and financial policies of the two parties.
This visit took place to reinforce the technical relationship between PMA and the Central Bank of Algeria, and both sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for exchange of experiences between the two parties. According to this MoU, PMA will send a technical delegation to the Central Bank of Algeria to discuss exchange of experiences in various areas of expertise; on the other hand, PMA will study benefiting from the advanced expertise of the Central Bank of Algeria in various fields.
During this visit Dr. Al Wazir and the Palestinian delegation were welcomed at the Palestinian Embassy in Algeria by the Ambassador, Hussein Abd Alkhalek and the Palestinian community there.
